Our requirements for membership are: 1) At least three full years (36 months) of professional indexing experience; The annual membership cost for the past two years has been $70.00/year and will remain at that level at least through the 2007-2008 fiscal year. Our membership year runs from September 1 though August 31. Total membership is limited to fifty indexers at any one time. Members are allowed listings in up to fifteen subject categories. We also restrict each subject area to fifteen indexers maximum (a few areas that existed before this change in policy currently have more names). The business of the cooperative is handled in a participatory fashion. An Advisory Board of five members reviews ideas for policy changes, makes recommendations, and generally assists in running the operation. Other members volunteer in such tasks as proof-reading revised web pages, making referrals for indexing jobs, and taking leadership in new marketing efforts. We maintain a private Yahoo group where the business of the cooperative is conducted (email archives, polls, uploaded files, editor contacts, etc.). All members receive email addressed to the group address. A Yahoo account is necessary in order to access the private Yahoo group where email can be managed in daily or digest format. All members must sign a "Service Agreement" before being accepted into the group. Updated: September 18, 2007 |
